A Family, A Farm, and Three Goats That Changed Everything
Some businesses start with a business plan. Ours started with three goats and a family crisis.
In 2009, our family was facing one of its hardest seasons. A serious illness had turned our world upside down, and we were searching for anything that might bring comfort and hope. That's when three goats arrived at our Washington State farm—and everything began to change.
What started as animal therapy became something much more. As our family member regained strength, those three goats transitioned from beloved companions to abundant milk producers. Suddenly, our kitchen was alive with experimentation: creamy lasagnas, homemade ice cream, rich chocolate milk, fresh goat milk mozzarella. We discovered that goat milk wasn't just delicious—it was transformative.
The real breakthrough came when we started using goat milk on our skin.
From Kitchen Experiments to Skincare Innovation
Our mother—a modern dancer from San Diego with an artist's intuition and a scientist's curiosity—began formulating. She researched. She tested. She refined. What she created was something we couldn't find anywhere else: an organic goat milk moisturizer that actually worked.
In 2017, Artisan The Goat was born.
Our father, a New Yorker who'd met our mother in San Diego and followed love to the Pacific Northwest, brought his own gifts to the table: business sense, relentless work ethic, and the belief that quality shouldn't require compromise. Together, they built something neither could have created alone.
Today, our farm in Washington State is home to the same mission that started with three goats: creating skincare that genuinely helps people feel better in their own skin.
Six Kids, One Big Dream
We're not a corporation. We're a family of eight—Mom, Dad, and six kids who grew up on this farm, surrounded by goats and big dreams.
Our kids aren't just family—they're athletes, scholars, and the reason we believe so deeply in taking care of your body. Four played college athletics. Two competed at the Division I NCAA level. Three have earned master's degrees, and a fourth is working on theirs right now.
We know what it means to push your body hard and need products that actually support recovery. We know the discipline of training, the satisfaction of improvement, the importance of rest and repair. That knowledge shapes everything we make.

Life on the Farm
Our Washington State farm isn't just where we make our products—it's where we live, play, and find inspiration.
On any given day, you might find us hiking through the stunning Pacific Northwest, exploring the Oregon Coast, or simply being present with the animals who make this place home: our goats (of course), chickens, a very opinionated cat, our energetic Australian Shepherds, and our gentle giant Great Pyrenees who watches over everyone.
We're a physically active family. Early mornings in the gym. Pilates sessions that humble even our D1 athletes. Recovery rituals that we've refined over years of learning what actually works. The same intention we bring to our own wellness is the intention we bring to every product we create.
What We Make
We started with what we know best: goat milk facial moisturizers. Our original formulations remain at the heart of everything we do—organic, effective, and gentle enough for the most sensitive skin.
As our family's needs evolved, so did our product line. Our athletes needed body care for sports—creams that actually supported recovery after hard training. So we made them. We developed specialty creams for specific concerns. We crafted goat milk soaps that bring the same benefits to your whole body. We even started making beeswax candles, because self-care extends beyond skincare.
